I ran across some years ago. When you threw a couple logs on the bonfire people would honestly back a few feet.Would burn for thirty minutes and the logs looked like I just threw them in.However I use an axe to split and to this day it’s been the most challenging

Where's the recipe? Where's the preparation? We didn't need to see you struggle w your instant pot for the whole two minutes.. Where's the creation after it's cooked? Why did you put this on? It shows nothing but your enthusiasm. Hope it all turned out delicious.

I have heard that unlike most other woods, you can use it green. Obviously, it's not nearly as good that way, but in a pinch, it could work

It’s has very close relative called the Osage orange that mammoths ate and giant sloths and squirrels and humans eat the seeds you should grow it and see if you can hybridize it to get bigger fruit.

I cant tell if the logs i have is Osage or not. I have split & sold thousands of fcs over the years but have never seen Osage up till now possibly. Bright yellow when split with a very strong sweet smell if you removed the bark & smelled the wood.Is there anyone willing to allow me to send pics of it to their email? Thanks!!

I always make sure I cut my osage orange into rounds right away. If let to dry it becomes a chainsaw blade eater. If for some reason I have to cut an seasoned log, I use a carbide blade.

Got my hands on it 2 years ago from a truckload of logs…my God. It was my first time seeing it and I immediately disliked it come bucking and splitting time. But I really loved the color which fades quickly as you said. I honestly couldn’t tell after awhile it was Osage but we did have a nice burning season 👍🏼

The powder post beetles will not go into the heart wood. They have no problem with the sap wood. The leaves, husks of the nuts, and shavings from the tree are good weed killers, and you do not want any walnut saw dust around your animals as it can kill them. The black walnut is being hit hard by 1000 cankers disease out here in Oregon. Personally it is a nice wood, but I can't work it any more. It makes me sneezy and itchy.
